Dear Fellow Marketer,
The lure of social marketing is that you can find and build a network of individuals that fit in with your niche. You most likely joined Twitter because it held that same promise for you.
Spend enough time on Twitter, however, and you soon realize that it takes a lot of time and energy to find and build a network.
You most likely followed the conventional wisdom and followed everyone you encountered that looked like a fit. You then in turn followed everyone that followed you.
Conventional wisdom turns social marketing into a numbers game. Build as large of a network as you can and you will achieve social marketing nirvana. You send a tweet about your latest offer and your network responds by making you wealthy.
Having a large number of followers on Twitter does NOT guarantee success. Let me repeat that for you, having a large number of followers does NOT guarantee success.
If you followed conventional wisdom, only a small number of your followers will ever respond to an offer or answer a simple question for that matter.
You see by following conventional wisdom, your followers are no longer relevant to your initial goals. Since the vast majority of your followers did exactly what you did, you have watered down their relevance.
I got caught up in the vicious cycle of following. I was following people that on the surface were the right type of people. However, the more I played the follow game, the less and less impact my message was having. I could not get anyone to really engage in a conversation, let alone buy something from me.
I realized that something was not right. My follower count was ever increasing, but my tweets seemed to go nowhere.
And then one day I had my "ah-ha" moment. I realized that I need to stop focusing on my follower count. Instead, I would focus on my offers and let my followers focus on getting me results.
My great insight was that I needed to let the followers that were listening to my offers amplify my offers.
So I applied a classic list building technique to Twitter, I would give away "freebies" in exchange for a tweet to their followers.
I would achieve 2 things at once, refocus my follower list, and put cash in my pocket.
Quite simply, Tweetbie is the software package designed from the ground up to run my Twitter give always.
I needed a solution that would allow:
In fact, this site is running on a stock version of Tweetbie.
